Actually the incident you’re referring to took place in Richmond, California which is city NEAR San Francisco. This website is about the Richmond DISTRICT (e.g. a neighborhood) of San Francisco, not Richmond, CA. The crime did not take place in our neighborhood, which you are correct, took its name from Richmond, AU.

In a case like this, unfortunately, the criminality of the rape itself recedes into the background, and what stands out like dog's balls is the evil of those creatures who watched, cheered, clapped, and generally got off on it...AND NOT ONE CAME TO HELP THAT POOR TERRIFIED GIRL. SHAME RICHMOND, SHAME. p.s. Incidentally, I am a previous long time resident of Richmond Victoria Australia, from where, if you check your local history, you guys took your name.
