Restaurant news

In food news this week, Burma Superstar announced via Twitter that they are now closed on Tuesdays but open on Mondays. Sort of odd but I’m sure they have their reasons. So remember, no BS on Tuesdays anymore! And do you know the trick for how to skip the wait?

In their latest top restaurant list, Eater 38, EaterSF.com added a Richmond Japanese restaurant, Halu (312 8th Avenue), to the list at #21. EaterSF writes:

“You’d be hard-pressed to find better okonomiyaki in the city. And you’d be hard-pressed to find a better restaurant with lava lamps as well. Throw in the Beatles decor, the offal-laden yakitori, and the friendly family vibe, decent ramen and the tiny Halu’s a win.”

Richmond District restaurants Namu (“Namu is a family affair and it feels like it. Ingredients are top notch, and it’s quickly become one of the best modern Asian places in town. And the Korean tacos are on the menu now.”), Aziza (“Mourad Lahlou is a chef that should/will soon be on the national radar. His Cal-Moroccan cuisine is only getting better with three-star chef Louis Maldonado aboard.”) and the Cliff House (“George Morrone is dearly departed, but the ocean view is still the best in the city. A simple reminder of why you live in San Francisco.”) maintained their postitions on the list. 4 out of 38 – not bad Richmond District!

  1. NICE!!! I LOVE HALU!!!!! Their koumi-don is my favorite!!! And of course, THE BEATLES!!! As a Beatles mania, that place is heaven to me. I love how they have Beatles drum set up above the kitchen. The Japanese family who runs that place are all nice as well. Halu Rocks!
