Creature Features at the Balboa, March 25

This Thursday, the Balboa will present a night of Creature Features, inspired by the KTVU show from the 1970s that featured horror movies hosted by John Stanley.

Hosted by John Stanley, Creature Features will show the film, Horror Express, in which a train speeding through the trans-Siberian wilderness is terrorized by a supernatural entity with blazing red eyeballs who mesmerizes his victims and turns them into corpses with bleeding eyeball sockets. Starring Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing and Telly Savalas.

In addition to the film, you’ll see vintage footage 1970s commercials, John Stanley’s classic four-part interview with actor/voice impressionist Frank Gorshin, and Bob Wilkins’ interview with John Stanley on Market Street in downtown San Francisco (not seen since 1977!).

The creepiness begins at 7:30pm; advance tickets available here.

  1. OMG! I am missing SO many cool things at the Balboa!!! I never missed “Creature Features” with Bob Wilkins–have lots of fond memories of watching really bad horror movies and some that really did scare me! Wish I could be there…but alas, 800 miles is a long way to go…
