On 09/17/10 at 12:56am on the 5100 block of Geary a victim returned to her car and found a suspect sleeping in the backseat. The police were contacted and officers attempted to wake the male, who was intoxicated. The suspect began to swing at the officers and refused to get out of the vehicle. Officers were finally able to remove the suspect from the car and the 21 year old male was arrested for auto tampering, resisting arrest and being drunk in public.

On 09/19/10 at 10:25pm officers were called to the 400 block of 21st Avenue on a report of a trespasser in the building. The caller stated he found the suspect wandering the hallways of the apartment building and when the suspect was confronted he left via the back steps towards the backyard. The building and yards were searched by the officers but the suspect was gone. At 11:01pm officers were called to the same building as the suspect was seen again on the back steps. Officers set up a perimeter and were told by a neighbor on the 400 block of 22nd Avenue that they heard noises on their back steps. Officers located the male suspect on an exterior second floor landing lying on a bench. While the officers were investigating this other officers were called to an alarm at a business on the 5700 block of Geary Boulevard, which is between 21st and 22nd Avenues. Officers found signs of forced entry to the rear door of the business. The officers then watched the video from the security camera and saw that the suspect on film was the same suspect they located in the backyard of the 22nd Avenue home. The 22 year old male was charged with burglary and trespassing.

On 09/20/10 at 10:40am a victim was walking on California Street approaching 26th Avenue. She saw the suspect standing in the middle of the street looking eastbound. As she approached the intersection he walked over to her and told her that his car had been broken into and he needed $40.00 to get back to New Mexico. The victim said all she had was $3.00 and as she reached in her back pocket to get the money the suspect placed a hard metal object to her stomach. The suspect asked the victim if she was sure that was all she had and said they could go to the ATM together. The victim said again she only had $3.00 and they suspect took it and said, “I didn’t realize you were poor.” He then fled. At 12:20 PM Officers responded to another call of a male in the middle of the street at 25th Avenue and El Camino Del Mar. A male there who was stopping cars and asking for money matched the description of the earlier robbery call. U.S. Park Police were also notified as the area borders the Presidio of SF. The victim from 26th Avenue and California Street robbery was brought to the scene and identified the suspect as the person who had robbed her. The 39 year old male was charged with robbery.

On 09/21/10 at 2:30pm a motorcycle officer was in the area of Tea Garden Drive and MLK Drive when he was flagged down by a woman. She told the officer that she had just witnessed a male breaking into a car and provided the officer with the description and direction of escape of the suspect. The officer located the suspect west of the location of the auto break-in hiding behind a tree. The suspect was detained and identified by the witness. The 23 year old male, who is on probation out of San Mateo County, was charged with burglary.

  1. It would be good to have some more traffic enforcement.Cars are going just too fast. The accident over the weekend had a car into the UPS store at 22nd & Geary.A second earlier and lots of people would have been wiped out on the sidewalk.Bikes and pedestrians also need to watch the laws!
