Tech geeks beat each other up for charity at the Rockit Room, Thursday night

On Thursday night, the Rockit Room on Clement Street will host “The Tech Beat Up”, a charity event that pits the biggest tech companies in the Bay Area against one another in an inflatable-gloves, inflatable-ring boxing tournament.

Yeah, you read that right. Geeky dudes and dudettes with giant inflatable hands, swatting it out above Clement Street. These are top-ranked geeks (ok, maybe top ranked in search engine terms…) from Google, Apple, IBM, Zynga, Yelp, and a few other internet companies.

IBM? How did they get in on this? Check out the tech-letes that will be there Thursday night – Zynga guy got guns! Must be all that farming… But let’s get real, Anthony is going to take it all. He has that eye of the tiger for sure.

MC’ing for the evening will be Ashkon Davaran, the Giants superfan whose now famous “Don’t Stop Believing” cover became the anthem of San Francisco during the Giants’ playoff run.

Each matchup will consist of two boxers duking it out in a bouncy castle for two 45-second rounds. Winners will be determined by audience applause. No clicking, captcha codes or form filling out required. Just screaming and yelling.

The fights begin on Thursday night at 7:30pm at the Rockit Room, 406 Clement Street. Tickets are $10 online and $15 at the door. All proceeds from the event benefit ZeroDivide, a nonprofit organization that leverages technology to benefit disadvantaged communities in the Bay Area and beyond.

Let the geek games begin!
