649 8th Avenue – now a church, but what was it before?

Woody LaBounty of the Western Neighborhoods Project posted another great SF West History Minute. This time it’s about the small Russian church tucked in among the homes of the 600 block of 8th Avenue. It has an interesting history – watch the video below to find out what it once was.

  1. Thanks for posting this! I just went to YouTube and watched all of the history minutes. Great stuff, and there are soooo many more little mysteries in the Richmond District waiting to have their stories told.
