CAPTAIN KEITH SANFORD’S MESSAGE
During my first two weeks as the Commanding Officer of Richmond Police Station, I have had the opportunity to meet with two separate community organizations that are active in our district. I look forward to working with and on the upcoming projects that were discussed from nuisance to violent crime incidents.

We anticipate working with Irina from SF SAFE, to start some neighborhood watch programs as a result of burglaries of homes and automobiles. A recent community’s involvement in developing communication with Richmond Station officers resulted in the arrest of two suspects involved in the possession and transportation of illegal drugs. Excellent work!!!!

We plan to conduct numerous traffic enforcement operations in the Geary Blvd corridor due to pedestrian right of way, red light and speeding violations. This past weekend we conducted a Traffic Safety Awareness Program with the Community Police Advisory Board (CPAB-Patrice Motley) and SF SAFE(Irina Chatsova), on Saturday at the intersection of California and 22nd Ave. We had numerous contacts with the operator of vehicles who violated traffic laws as well as pedestrian right of ways. Officers H. Wong and G. Fagundes were instrumental in the assistance in this venue. The interactions were positive with safety information being provided to the drivers. Our Geary Blvd Corridor Traffic Enforcement Operation netted 55 moving violations for speed, stop signs, red lights and pedestrian right a way.

Our Golden Gate Park Operation resulted in no incidents of vandalism. We are most interested in keeping our parks clean, green and usable to all San Franciscans and tourists. If you observe any malicious mischief or vandalism of our park trees, flowers or greenery please notify the SFPD.

FYI, our PCRF meeting will be held on June 21st, 2011 at 7pm, in the Richmond Station Community Room. Please forward any topic suggestions to me at Keith.Sanford@sfgov.org.

  1. Glad to hear about some traffic enforcement initiatives on Geary, which remains very unsafe for pedestrians!
