Early morning fire at 3rd & Clement; Giorgio’s calms with free slices

SFAppeal reported today that the SFFD were called to a fire around 8am on Sunday morning at an apartment building at 307 3rd Avenue on the corner of Clement.

The two occupants of the unit made their way to safety, and residents of the four other units in the building were also evacuated. The residents of the burned unit suffered from smoke inhalation.

The fire, which was pouring out of a third story window when SFFD arrived, appeared to be accidental.

Twitter user pixplz (Justin Beck) shot the photo above after the fire department brought the blaze under control.

Beck also tweeted that Giorgio’s pizzeria, located just across the street, lent a helping hand: “Someone w/ Giorgio’s Pizzeria on Clement just gave some cheese slices to displaced residents”.

  1. I saw a report on the morning news about this the day that it happened. Would’ve been nice if the report had been more specific as to where *exactly* it happened as opposed to the vague “in the Richmond district.”
