E-Waste recycling fundraiser at McCoppin School, this Saturday

This Saturday from 10:30am until 3pm, Frank McCoppin Elementary school will host an e-waste recycling drop-off. This is a great chance to get rid of those old electronics that have been cluttering up your office, garage or living room.

For every pound of e-waste they collect, the school earns $.05 which will go towards buying new computer equipment for the students.

Stop by McCoppin Elementary on Saturday, located at 651 6th Avenue near Cabrillo, to drop off your old computers, televisions, printers and small appliances this Saturday.

And in case you missed the news, McCoppin was one of the Distinguished School Award winners for 2012.

  1. Is there any information on whether to drop-off on 6th Avenue side (busier street) or 7th Avenue side (side with school yard)?

  2. @fmalumni, I called the school. The woman at the front desk did not specifically know which street, but due to traffic on 6th, she figured it is indeed the school yard on 7th. For anyone making a drop off:

-They will not take batteries, so be sure to remove those from devices.
-For personal security, remember to remove any SIM cards from phones; and if you are dropping off computer(s) and are not certain that hard drives are completely cleaned (unless you know how to do this, it is likely not stripped of your data), remove and hold onto those.

  3. So glad I opened this blog before 3 today. I was able to dispose of an old Mac AND support the computer program of a local elementary school. Thanks for the posting.
