Next week, the Balboa is showing a never-seen-before concert movie featuring the Rolling Stones. “Some Girls : The Rolling Stones LIVE in Texas ’78!” documents the Stones playing a show in Fort Worth, Texas in 1978 during their US tour, following the release of their “Some Girls” album. The tour is widely believed among fans to be one of the band’s greatest, largely because it was in many ways back to basics both in musical and visual terms [Wikipedia].
The 100 minute film opens with Sir Mick Jagger being interviewed back in 2011, where he introduces the concert and talks about the band’s long legacy. Songs in the concert film include many classics like Honky Tonk Woman, Tumbling Dice, Brown Sugar
Jumpin Jack Flash, Miss You and Beast of Burden.
“Some Girls” plays at the Balboa on August 14th and 16th at 7:30pm. Purchase tickets ($10) online in advance or at the Balboa box office.
