Photos: (Love?)Shack on wheels parked by Lincoln Park

We got an email from reader James F. earlier this week that said “There has been an unusual trailer parked on Clement street by Lincoln Park golf course around 38th – 40th avenues. It would make a good picture.”

So we said sure, send us a pic! And boy, he wasn’t kidding.

This looks like a full house on wheels. Ok, maybe more like a shack, but this is a pretty elaborate “trailer”. We particularly like the attic window detail and front porch.

Is this the Love Shack that the B-52s were singing about?

UPDATE: The owner, Alex B., has revealed himself in a comment: “Good Morning!!! That’s my house. I built that Tiny House back in NC. It’s name is Nod, which means to wander.”

  1. So *THAT’S* who bought Ted Kazinski’s mini house!

  2. Good Morning!!! That’s my house. I built that Tiny House back in NC. It’s name is Nod, which means to wander. I can tell you more about Nod, email me at Alexanderbrownart@gmail.com

  3. when the house is a rockin’, don’t come a knockin’

  4. So doesn’t this “house” go against the current law of no trailers or living mobiles parked on SF streets? I feel sorry for the neighbors who has to look at that eyesore. Alex Brown, can you also pay property taxes since you plan to stay here?

  5. Hey SFresident
Actually, the law states that I can’t habitate my vehicle between the hours of 10pm to 6am, and I don’t. In fact, I don’t even habitate my vehicle any of the other hours of the day. There is no law that says I can’t use the public street like any other vehicle that abides by the laws posted, like street sweeping etc. What property do I own to pay taxes on? I can’t claim ownership of the parking spot as my property, if I could, i’d be able to live in my Tiny House, and actually, to follow the rules of not being parked anywhere for longer than 72 hours means I don’t always keep the vehicle just in the Richmond district, or stay in the city. I think it’s terrible you’re so rude to leave such a negative comment, especially on such a public forum and behind the veil of the Internet.

  6. Some folks like being able to travel without leaving home. Happy trails, Alex.

  7. Saw this parked behind the La Playa Safeway over the weekend and was wondering about it. Seems like just the kind of thing that most San Franciscans (save for sfresident, I guess) relish.

Despite the aluminum siding, it’s kinda cute.

  8. As of Monday morning 07/29/13 it was still parked behind the La Playa Safeway.

  9. Alex B-

My comments are not “rude.” Sorry if you are upset over it but if you were a property owner and that thing was parked near your house I’m sure you will understand. We had a gigantic, rusted, 60’s camper home parked on the corner of our street for two years. It was an eyesore to the neighborhood. The SFPD came down numerous times to cite the occupant. The whole street finally was relieved when the occupants left.

For anyone who owns property, you know anything like parked near your house will really drag down the quality of the neighborhood – not to mention property values. Something like this for a short term (one day or a few) is ok. If you are leaving this forever, it becomes an eyesore.

  10. sfresident-

not all property owners share your feelings.

    alexb-

please excuse the NIMBY, your house/trailer is awesome.

    have a nice day!
