49ers cheerleaders at Bambu Cafe this Sunday for 2015 calendar signing

On Sunday, November 9, a few of the 49ers Gold Rush cheerleaders will be at Bambu Cafe (6050 Geary at 25th Avenue) to sign autographs and their new 2015 Gold Rush Calendar.

The cheerleaders will be there from 1 to 3pm. Stop by to meet them and watch some of Sunday’s NFL action at the cafe, which specializes in Vietnamese desserts and with blends of fresh tropical fruits, coconut, jellies, beans and aromatic coffees and teas.

Hut, hut, hike!

  1. neat. but, weird. I mean isn’t this the repeated-recent-failure shop at the bus stop there? glad they are open again finally, sad to see it open & close all the time in recent years. hopefully the 9ers cheerleaders will bring them more luck than 4-4. does somebody at the shop have a 9ers in? or are the 9ers regretting leaving SF so bad now that they are doing emergency outreach in the old hoods?

  2. Yeah…aren’t they based in Santa Clara? And ugh, cheerleaders, so 1972. Enjoy it while you can, American football is on the way out if neurology has anything to say about it.

  3. This is one of those occassional events that can attract neighbors in other districts and cities to our area. It’s like running into Tim Lincecum at 540 Club, McCauley Caulkin’s band at Neck of the Woods, or Robin Williams at the local comic shop (back in the day). It’s a reason for people who say, “I don’t do the Avenues” to come out, explore the community, and partake in the local economy.

This blog is putting out info about the neighborhood. Sometimes it’s great stuff, like RDNC projects, fundraisers, etc. Sometimes, it’s bad (police blotters about our neighborhood meth heads). Whatever the topic, though, try to reign in your negativity. I personally don’t always agree with the political slant of this blog, but you know what? I keep it in and focus on the great service this blog performs for our community, because, well, it’s a blog!

If you don’t like football; think cheerleading is an anachronism; think the NFL won’t address concussions; and don’t care for the geopolitics of the SF 49ers, then DON’T GO TO THE SIGNING. If anything, even offer tips or post about alternatives (ex: “Hey, if you don’t care for real football, it’ll be Open Mic Night at Ireland’s 32, or Ski Ball League at Buckshot!”).

    PLUR

  4. Doesn’t seem like there’s room for all of them and all of us in that one little cafe. Maybe they could spread out to the hardware store, or the furniture store…probably not Saint Monica’s or the Cathedral.

But they could do 30 second cheers in the striped crosswalks, make a circuit from corner to corner to corner. Even better, test out people’s reflexes on the unsignaled crosswalk at 22nd Ave.

Then if the fog rolls in they could make an end-run to Ross (or Goodwill or those amazing stores on Inner Clement) and buy a set of warm fleece jackets.

  5. The 49ers suck big time. They should rename themselves the Santa Clara Techies.

  6. @ Rob – Hilarious! :+|

@ Andrew – So well put. Thank you and thank you Richmond blog. We’re lucky we have you.

  7. Sorry but I don’t agree that commenting negatively on blog posts is the same as criticizing Sarah B. for posting them. I don’t think anyone has the right to try to dictate to Sarah B. what she can or can’t post but if there’s a comment section presumably that means that people are welcome to express their opinions about the contents of the posts. If that’s done civilly without any personal attacks I can’t see why that would be considered a problem.

I guess that was all a thinly veiled setup for me saying that I’m going with anna and the neurologists. After the NFL tried to ruin the career of the physician who, with no malice aforethought, identified chronic traumatic encephalopathy in ex-players, I had to call it quits re. even my part time attention to football (and the 9ers were a great help re. moving to a nondescript suburban mall and apparently heading downhill as a team, though all I’ve seen about them, and couldn’t avoid, are headlines). So have fun ogling the Gold Rush but as per Andrew’s instructions I WON’T GO TO THE SIGNING.
