“What is your purpose?” wall sprouts up on California near 26th Avenue

In February, a spontaneous Valentine’s wall on the corner of California at 23rd Avenue grew quickly and even made the evening news. Passerby’s were invited to post what they love about the Richmond District.

Now a new community wall has popped up a few blocks down on California between 26th and 27th Avenues, outside a building that is under construction.

This latest incarnation is a little more philosophical, asking people to complete the phrase “Today I believe my purpose is…”

So far there’s only been a couple of responses – “to love”, “to help others in need” – but as word spreads I’m sure we’ll see some interesting answers.

Thanks to reader Steph K. for the tip and photo.

  1. Went to visit it this weekend. It’s not a nice wall… not treated with the same love and community respect as the “love” wall. My children read lines of profanity. I hope it’s covered up soon.
