On Saturday, October 17, the SF Old Car Picnic returns to Golden Gate Park’s Hellman Hollow.

Vintage car, truck and motorcycle owners can display their vehicle simply by driving into the venue in the morning and paying the entry fee (Cars & trucks $40, motorcycles $20).

And like last year, the Old Car Picnic also invites vintage bicycle owners to display. The entry fee for bikes is $10.

Proceeds from the event go towards two organizations that benefit developmentally disabled children – Pomeroy Center and Potrero Hill House.

Spectators can start checking out the vintage vehicles, all from before 1987, from 7am until 4pm. Admission to view the cars, trucks and bikes on display is completely free, so bring your friends and family out to this great tradition in Golden Gate Park. And don’t forget to pack a picnic!

  1. Hi Mel, Jimmy has retired from organizing the event, but he appreciates the group of organizers that has continued the tradition. He plans to attend and have fun as an event participant and looks forward to not having to worry about organizing duties!

  2. I have been attending, and brining a car, to this event for about 20 years. It is one of the last large events that local working class people have here in San Francisco. No frills, no big dollar sponsors, no influx from the bridge and tunnel crowd.

Many of the participants are 2nd, 3rd, and 4th generation San Franciscans. It is also a un-official High School reunion for many.

The cars are great and the people are greater. If you have never made it over to the old car picnic then I suggest you take the time to come over and go for a walk.

    Great Event

  3. @Debra – not at all. Just drive to the show the morning of and pay your entry when your arrive (that’s how everyone enters)
