Bowling with Cops
On Wednesday, June 29, 2016, Officers from Richmond Station participated in a Bowling with Cops, event sponsored by SFPD’s Youth and Community Engagement Unit. Officers bowled and ate lunch at Presidio Bowl with kids from the Richmond District. Bowling with kids was a great way to build bonds with neighborhood children and have lots of fun!

A speaker from the San Francisco Department of Emergency Management will speak about a few topics including general emergency preparedness, AlertSF and public warning, and the Richmond district and tsunamis.

ARREST: WARRANT ARREST

5TH Ave. & Clement St.
Officers responded to a home on the report of a possible trespasser. When they arrived they located a man in the garage area of the home. The man told Officers someone had let him into the garage to sleep, a claim which turned out to be false. Officers conducted a records check on the subject, which revealed two outstanding warrants for his arrest. The suspect was arrested on the warrants and transported to County Jail where he was booked.

ROBBERY WITH FORCE

California St. & Spruce St.
Officers responded to California St. and Spruce St. regarding an attempted robbery. A woman was walking in the area, when a man brushed up against her and attempted to take her wallet, which was tucked underneath her arm. The man attempted to grab her wallet a second time, but once again was unsuccessful. The suspect then yelled obscenities at the woman and fled eastbound on California St. Officers arrived on scene but were unable to locate the suspect. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
Suspect description: Black male, 6’2’, 190 lbs, black hair, blue jeans, grey hooded sweatshirt, blue jacket and sunglasses.

THEFT FROM BUILDING

Clement St. & 10th Ave.
An employee was helping a man open a new account at a mobile phone store. When the employee walked to his computer at the front desk, the same man he was helping grabbed an iPhone and Samsung phones that were on display and fled the store on foot. The suspect in this case is still outstanding.
Suspect description: Black male, 18-22 years old, short hair, skinny build, black t-shirt, gray pants, gray and white Jordan shoes.

JFK & Hagiwara Tea Garden Dr
A woman stopped to take photos of roses in Golden Gate Park. She was looking through her camera when an unknown suspect forcefully pushed her to the ground. The victim fell on her right side and hit her head on the pavement, knocking her unconscious. After she regained consciousness, the victim told Officers she saw a suspect running away with her camera, lens and tripod. An ambulance arrived on scene and evaluated the victim and her injuries. There were several witnesses on scene that provided Officers with a description of the suspects and their vehicle.
Suspect description: Two Asian male adults, 20-25 years old.
Suspect vehicle: Silver Honda Accord.

Botanical Gardens (Golden Gate Park)
An elderly victim was taking photos at the Botanical Gardens in Golden Gate Park when he suddenly felt someone pulling on his camera strap. The victim was pushed to the ground and the camera was ripped away from his right hip. When the victim stood up he saw a tall “skinny” suspect running away with the camera. Officers arrived on scene and were unable to locate the suspect or any other witnesses to the robbery. The investigation is ongoing.

ARREST: ARSON; WARRANT; PARK CODE VIOLATION

475 JFK DR.
Officers were patrolling in the area when they observed a large amount of white smoke and a burning odor coming from inside Golden Gate Park. Officers located a tree on fire and a man lying nearby with an empty vodka bottle next to him. The Officers removed the suspect from the vicinity. The San Francisco Fire Department arrived and extinguished the fire.

The Officers conducted a records check on the suspect and discovered he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The suspect was also in possession of match books, boxes of matches and several “BIC” lighters. The suspect was arrested and booked on several charges.

ARREST: DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL

Clement & 6th Ave.
Officers observed a vehicle driving on Clement St. without any lights on during darkness, a violation of the California Vehicle Code. The Officers conducted a traffic stop and smelled the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on the male driver’s breath and person. The driver’s eyes were bloodshot, his eyelids were drooping and his speech was slow and slurred. The driver failed several Field Sobriety Tests (FST), and he was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

TRAFFIC COLLISION

32nd Ave. & California St.
Officers responded to a traffic collision scene that involved a vehicle that had crashed into a house. When Officers arrived on scene, the vehicle was completely engulfed in flames, which had also spread into the front portion of the house. Tragically, the driver died at the scene. Fortunately, there were no occupants inside of the home at the time of the collision, but there was significant fire and water damage to the structure. Police officers and fire fighters were able to rescue two dogs from inside the burning home and leave them in the temporary care of some helpful neighbors. The San Francisco Police Department’s Traffic Collision Investigation Team (TCIU) is investigating the factors that lead to this collision. The investigation is on-going.

The Sandlot Program
The Sandlot program is about having Officers go out and interact with kids in their communities in a fun and healthy environment! All children are welcome to attend and play with the Officers.
