This Saturday, Sutro Elementary School will host the grand opening of their shared schoolyard, allowing the public to use the recently renovated playground during weekend hours.

It’s part of a city-wide initiative called the San Francisco Shared Schoolyard Project that opens up schoolyards for public play during the weekends.

So far, over 40 schools across the city are part of the project. In addition to Sutro, other schools that open their schoolyards on the weekends include Argonne Elementary School and Alamo Elementary School. There are planned expansions to add Richmond District schools George Peabody Elementary, Presidio Middle School, Frank McCoppin Elementary, and Lafayette Elementary School to the project as well.

Stop by Sutro Elementary School (235 12th Avenue) on Saturday between 11am and 1pm for the grand opening event. Enjoy free food, games and activities for the whole neighborhood, raffles with fabulous prizes and a ribbon cutting ceremony!
