STATION’S MESSAGE
Hello Richhmond District,

In the past week The San Francisco Police Department has promoted several people throughout several ranks. Lt. Milanda Moore has been promoted to the rank of Captain with her location to be determined. Sergeant Chris Del Gandio has been promoted to the rank of Lieutenant with a location to be determined.

The San Francisco Police Department has several vacancies in the rank of Sergeant and will soon promote numerous Officers to this rank in the near Future.

Fleet Week is fast approaching, October 1st-9th. The festivities will be held throughout San Francisco and the Bay Area. There will be planes, jets, ships, helicopters, and many more. During this time The San Francisco Police Department has increased the number of Officers working and we expect many more people to visit our great city.

INCIDENTS IN THE RICHMOND DISTRICT THIS WEEK

Shoplifting Incident Turns Into Robbery- Ongoing
800 Block of La Playa
9/23/17 18:30 PM
On 9/23/2017 Officers responded to the 800 block of La Playa Street regarding a robbery. Upon arrival, Officers were told by security that an unknown male entered the supermarket. While inside the store the male was observed placing a bottle of whiskey into a backpack by security. Security attempted to retrieve the bottle of alcohol. The male pushed security staff and attempted to leave the store with the stolen merchandise.

Security staff was able to retrieve the stolen whiskey, which aggravated the suspect. The security staff member was holding his personal cell phone in his hand. The suspect hit the arm of the security guard causing him to lose grip of the cell phone in his hand. The suspect quickly grabbed the cell phone and fled the area on a bicycle.

Officers canvassed the area for the suspect, yet they were unsuccessful in locating him or the stolen cell phone.

*The investigation is ongoing at this time

Shoplifting Incident Turns Into Robbery-Ongoing
700 Block of 7th Avenue
9/23/17 18:30 PM
On 9/21/2017 Officers responded to the 700 block of 7th Avenue regarding a robbery. Upon arrival, Officers were told by security that an unknown male entered the supermarket. While inside the store the male was observed placing a two pack of deodorant into a jacket pocket. The suspect then started to walk towards the exit of the store without paying for the above merchandise. Security asked the suspect to return the deodorant. The suspect in turn stated “I will fight you, I will hurt you”. The suspect lunged at the security member. In order to prevent the attack the security member tripped the suspect causing them both to fall to the ground. The suspect grabbed hold of the security member’s wrist and began to twist. The suspect caused severe injuries to the security member’s hand. Another employee at the store yelled at the suspect who then fled the store with the stolen merchandise.

Officers canvassed the area for the suspect, yet they were unsuccessful in locating him or the stolen cell phone.

Traffic Collision, DUI Arrest
Great Highway & John F Kennedy Dr. 9/23/2017 22:02 PM
Several Richmond Station Patrol Officers and Sergeants responded to the scene of a single vehicle roll over crash on Great Highway. The driver of the vehicle had attempted to change lanes and swerved at the last minute to avoid a vehicle already in the lane. The driver then crashed into the median and rolled over the vehicle. Richmond Station Officers observed a strong smell of alcohol on the driver’s breath. Field sobriety tests and a breathalyzer test revealed the driver to be under the influence. The driver was trans-ported to SFGH for treatment and arrested for driving under the influence.

*All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
