Safety, redwoods & kids music at the Library this week

Where were you when Loma Prieta hit in 1989? Are you any more prepared today? This Wednesday night, October 14, the library will host “Be Red Cross Ready, Community” where you can learn how to make a disaster plan, assemble disaster supplies, and how to stay safe when disaster strikes. Free, 6:30 – 7:30pm.

On Thursday night, October 15, learn more about California’s ancient redwoods. William Walsh, Development Director of the San Francisco Bay chapter of the Sierra Club, will present a slide show about California’s old growth redwood forests: their majestic beauty, the delicate eco system, and the challenges we face to preserve this natural resource. Free, 6:30 – 7:30pm.

We adults have had our share of music festivals this summer with Outside Lands, Power to the Peaceful, Now and Zen, Hardly Strictly Bluegrass… Well now it’s the kids’ turn. On Sunday, October 18, the Library hosts The Time Outs as part of the Tricycle Music Fest West, a kindie-rock music festival for families. The Time Outs play a lively mix of indie pop, 60’s garage and good old-fashioned rock-n-roll. Check them out in the video below. Free, 2-3pm.
