I ran in the Skirtchaser 5k this afternoon in Golden Gate Park. Put on by a women’s fitness apparel maker that specializes in running skirts, the race featured an initial start for the women, followed three minutes later by the men, aka the Skirtchasers.
A woman won the race, finishing in 18 minutes. And I will say, running in a skirt was a first for me but I highly recommend it. It was great!

A pre-race welcome from Skirt Sports’ CEO Nicole DeBoom
Even the guys got in on the skirt craze!
Some runners were more creative with their skirts.
And they’re off! The women started the race first.
Then it was the men’s turn a few minutes later.
If a woman had one of these stickers on her, it meant she wanted to be chased. 😉
Do they have these races every year? I so want to do this!!! I can’t believe I missed it!
This was their first year, but the turnout was really good so hopefully they’ll bring it back. I think in some cities they have done 2 years. I heard the CEO say that SF has been one of the best so I’m sure they’ll be back. Skirt Sports, who puts it on, is on Twitter if you want to follow their updates: http://www.twitter.com/skirtsports
This is awesome to hear! I am starting a new event at the finish line next year for the top male and female finishers to mount one another and procreate. Hopefully it catches on and becomes a massive orgy at the finish line!
