The fog and bikes stole the show at the final Sunday Streets today. Though the sun never broke for the big crowd that came out, it didn’t seem to dampen their enthusiasm.
Kids pumped their bikes and trikes down the Great Highway and hula-hooped with abandon. And in the spirit of kids willing to compete for anything, some of them strapped on harnesses and pulled old tires down the Great Highway. Hoorah!
Some of the same folks were on hand from the last Sunday Streets like Sports Basement who offered free bike repairs and Playland-Not-At-The-Beach where kids could see what their parents and grandparents used to play with.
A fun new addition was Cyclecide who brought out their clowns and human-powered amusement rides. On one fast-paced ride, parents rode bikes in the middle that powered their kids zooming overhead in circles.
And as promised, Sweet Cart lady was there peddling her delicious treats. By the time we reached her at 1pm, she was already out of cupcakes. No worries – her cheesecake, chilling on a tray over dry ice, was delicious.
Sunday Streets seems to bring out every manner of bike – fun bikes that seat seven, trick bikes ridden by clowns, tricycles that make the trip along the Great Highyway really long, tandem bikes, bikes with thumping sound systems…they were all there to close out the season.

It looks like it was fun, I gotta make it next time.
Too bad it was the same weekend the Bay Bridge was closed – 19th was a mess.
PS: Paul McCartney rules!
That was sooo fun. My wife and I rented a tandem bike and had a great time today. Thank you for the video and write up.
