PG&E crews were performing routine maintenance last nght at 6th Avenue and Clement when an operating switch produced a large spark, triggering a power outage for 8,300 customers. That was around 4:15pm.
PG&E spokesman Andrew Souvall said all customers had regained power by about 8:45pm.
Were you affected by this? All my clocks were still on point last night when I got home so thankfully I wasn’t.

Central Richmond was affected! It was back by the time I got home in the evening, though.
We were caught up in the powerless fun in the Outer Richmond. I was surprised how many people did not:
a. have an emergency plan
b. know that you can call PGE to report and get updates, (they will even call you with updates)
c. Keep a battery or alternative power radio handy (KCBS was all over it)
We did:
Meet some new neighbors (so that’s who moved in across the street!)
Have some outdoor time on a rare sunny Outer Richmond day
Talk up the Richmond District Blog- You want to know about the Richmond? The blog’s the place!
I was not affected, but on my commute home I did notice that a lot of the restaurants and bars in the neighborhood had their power out. What a bummer for them.
