Grab the marshmallows, graham crackers and hershey chocolate bars! The YeaShOre Community and Congregation Beth Sholom of San Francisco are hosting a bonfire on Saturday night at Ocean Beach from 6:30pm to around midnight.
The theme is seaside songs and stories. Weave a tale of your own or just relax and enjoy the warm fire. The event will also feature a Jewish Havdalah ritual about an hour after sunset. Havdalah is a Jewish religious ceremony that marks the symbolic end of Shabbat and holidays, and ushers in the new week.
If you’re not Jewish, that’s ok too. They’ll explain the ritual and invite you to join in (or you can just sit there quietly).
Some other details from the event’s webpage: Please bring food and drinks for yourself and some to share. Bring many friends, stories, songs, drums and other musical instruments.
And you don’t even have to bring your own s’more makings – the hosts will provide chocolate, Kosher marshmallows and crackers for S’mores, along with potatoes and onions for roasting in the Bonfire.
If you’re arriving between 6:30 and 7:00, meet up at the Beach Chalet restaurant parking lot. If you come after 7, look for the bonfire on the beach.
