Police Blotter – November 6, 2009

Please consider becoming a member of the station’s Community Advisory Board. As a member of the Community Advisory Board you will be asked to attend a monthly meeting and make a one-year commitment. You will receive detailed information from the station management team regarding station operations and public safety issues and participate in developing problem-solving strategies.

The Board’s mission is dynamic and no doubt will expand. For now its goals will be to strengthen community policing in the Richmond, serve as a model for other District Stations and to enhance the capacity of our police/community problem solving efforts.

During the past week, there were 20 traffic accidents, 5 involving injuries. There were 6 citations issued for driving without a license or driving on a suspended license. There were 2 arrests for driving under the influence.

NOTEWORTHY ARRESTS
On 11/04/09 at 2:22am officers were patrolling in the area of Fulton Street due to auto burglaries. At 43rd Avenue and Fulton they saw a suspect standing outside of a vehicle, removing property. The officers detained the suspect who said the car belonged to a friend and he was sleeping in it. When asked for identification, the suspect told the officers it was in his backpack. Upon checking the backpack, the officers discovered narcotics. The 51-year-old male was charged with narcotic violations.

On 11/04/09 at 2:00pm, at 33rd Avenue and Anza a 15 year old male became angry after being suspended from school. Later a school security officer saw the subject and told him he needed to go home. The security officer called the subject’s father. The 15 year old got angry and banged his fist on the windshield of a car parked nearby and broke it. He left the area, but was later stopped on a MUNI bus for fare evasion. The officers on the bus realized this was the same suspect from 33rd and Anza and detained him. He was charged with vandalism and released to his dad.

NOTEWORTHY INCIDENTS
On 10/30/09 between 8:00am and 5:00pm on the 2000 block of Scott Street a suspect entered an apartment and took a laptop, camera and a ring. There were no signs of forced entry.

Between 10/30/09 at 10:30pm and 8:00am the next morning a suspect entered a business on the 5000 block of Geary by prying the front door open. The suspect took cash.

Between 10/30/09 at 11:30pm and 9:30am the next morning a suspect entered into a business on the 5400 block of Geary by breaking the glass on the front door. There was no loss.

On 10/31/09 at 2:45pm a victim was on the 300 block of 27th Ave when she was approached from behind by a suspect. The suspect yanked the victim’s necklace from around her neck and fled west on Clement Street. The suspect was described as a male, 20-30 years of age, wearing a black over-sized t-shirt and red shorts.

Between 10/31/09 at 6:30pm and 11/02/09 at 9:50am a suspect entered into a business on the 1500 block of Clement Street by forcing the front iron gate off of it’s tracks. The suspect then broke a window and took cash.

On 10/31/09 at 9:30pm a victim exited a bus at 10th Avenue and Geary. Two male suspects approached the victim. One suspect was armed with a knife. The suspects demanded the victim’s property, and the victim complied. The suspects were last seen fleeing south on 20th Avenue. They were described as males in their early 20’s, one wearing a blue cap and multi-colored sweatshirt. The other was in a dark hooded sweatshirt.

Between 11/01/09 at 8:30pm and 9:00am the next morning a suspect entered into a garage on the 300 block of 17th Avenue and took two bicycles. There were no signs of forced entry.

On 11/05/09 at 8:30pm, the victim was walking in the area of Scott and Pacific. He noticed the suspect at the corner, standing next to a silver vehicle. The suspect told the victim that his car had broken down and could he borrow his cell phone. The victim handed the suspect his phone, and was then asked by the suspect to help him push his car. The victim got behind the car, as the suspect got into the drivers seat, still in possession of the victim’s phone. The suspect then started the car and took off, east on Pacific. The suspect is a male 18-22 years of age, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and baggy blue jeans.
