Located at 4th Avenue and Balboa, new restaurant Uncle Boy’s is serving up a simple menu that consists of just a few items: hamburgers, wings, fries or onion rings, and soft drinks.
SFWeekly reports that the new hamburger house also delivers to addresses within the Richmond District. Hurrah!
SFWeekly also sheds light on the origin of Uncle Boy’s name, saying “it has special significance within the Pinoy community. It’s a tribute to family, since just about everyone in the Philippines is said to have an Uncle Boy or Auntie Baby.” The restaurant menu also includes some Filipino items like turon and lumpia.
Uncle Boy’s is open Sunday-Wednesday from 11:30am until midnight, and until 2am Thursday through Saturday.
Given the amount of Chinese, Thai and pizza I get delivered to my door, it’s nice to see another option available. Then again, I’m not sure how a burger and fries would hold up after a 10+ minute journey? But I’m willing to try!
Has anybody tried their burgers? Yelp reviewers are very positive: “the fries are flippin’ awesome!” “A small diner-like joint that’s makes REALLY good American burgers.” The photo in this post is from their Yelp page; I think that’s the Uncle Boy himself in the middle.
