Police Blotter – January 8, 2010

NOTEWORTHY ARRESTS
On 01/01/10 at 9:15pm officers responded to a call of two male juveniles using a flashlight to looking into parked vehicles. The caller stated the suspects were in the area of California and Pierce Streets and provided the dispatcher with descriptions. Officers found the suspects and, as officers approached one of the suspects dropped an I-pod to the ground. In a search of the immediate area, officers also located a laptop computer. Officers were able to locate the vehicle and victim who identified the property as belonging to him. The two 14 year old suspects were charged with the theft and then released to their parents.

On 01/02/10 at 3:30pm officers conducted a traffic stop on the 2000 block of Divisadero. The driver had committed a moving violation and was driving on a suspended license. Upon a search of the vehicle prior to being towed, officers located narcotics in the vehicle. The 61 year old male was charged with narcotic violations and driving on a suspended license.

On 01/02/10 at 4:30pm officers responded to a call of a male breaking into a car at the rear of the Academy of Sciences building. The caller provided a description of both the suspects and the vehicle they had broken into. Officers searched the area and located one of the suspects at 2nd Avenue and Clement Street. A 39 year old male was charged with auto burglary.

On 01/02/10 at 11:38pm officers encountered a group of 4 young males standing on the corner of 14th and Geary, drinking beer. Officers determined that one of the males was intoxicated and unable to care for himself. The officers detained the male for public intoxication and found among his possession pills which appeared to be Ecstasy, and other narcotics. The 18 year old male was charged accordingly.

On 01/04/10 at 5:20pm officers were on 6th Avenue and Geary when they observed a male doing graffiti on the bus shelter. The 14 year old male was charged with vandalism and released to his parent.

NOTEWORTHY INCIDENTS
On 12/29/09 at 7:20pm a victim had just parked his car on the 100 block of 9th Avenue inside his garage. A suspect entered the garage and struck the victim from behind, demanded the victim’s wallet. The victim was forced to the ground as the suspect continued to strike him. Moments later the suspect left with the victim’s wallet and phone. The victim was taken to a local hospital for his injuries. The suspect was described as a male 20 to 30 years of age wearing a brown jacket and dark colored pants.

Between 01/02/10 and 01/04/10 a suspect entered a business on the 3500 block of Sacramento and took numerous items of clothing. There were no signs of forced entry.

On 01/02/10 at 6:20pm on the 600 block of 22nd Avenue a suspect went into an open garage and rode off with the victim’s bike. A neighbor witnessed this and alerted the victim.

Between 01/02/10 at 10:00pm and 01/03/10 at 9:00am on the 100 block of 25th Avenue a suspect entered a garage and took two bikes. There were no signs of forced entry.

Between 01/03/10 at 4:45pm and 01/04/10 at 7:00am on the 3600 block of Scramento a suspect gained entry into an office building and took keys. There were no signs of forced entry.

On 01/04/10 at 9:35am a victim had just left the bank at 39th Avenue and Balboa after making a cash withdrawal. As she exited she put the money into a bag and into her jacket pocket. The suspect then ran up from behind the victim and grabbed the bag from her jacket, and then fled north on 39th Avenue. The suspect was described as a male, 20 to 25 years, with a skinny build and wearing jeans.
