This Saturday, the Argonne Community Garden will throw a party in conjunction with the the Community Living Campaign’s Seeds of Hope campaign.
The Argonne Community Garden, located on 16th Avenue between Cabrillo and Fulton, started in 1975 when the San Francisco Unified School District issued a permit to use vacant land surrounding the Argonne Children’s Center for growing vegetables and flowers.
Today, the Argonne Community Garden, the only community garden in the Richmond district, continues as an open space location next to Argonne Children’s Center where 50 families garden for the community.
The mission of the Community Living Campaign is to enable seniors and persons with disabilities of all ages to live happy, healthy lives with each other and in the communities of their choice. Their Seeds of Hope program is partnering with Community Gardens to reach out to seniors or disabled residents living nearby who may be isolated or lonely.
The garden party will run from 11am to 1pm and is open to the the public. For more information, call 826-3194 or visit the Argonne Community Garden website.
