Give your input on equipment for the new Fulton Playground, April 21

Hopefully by now you’ve heard that Lincoln Playground has re-opened. Be sure to stop by and check out the new play areas, pristeen lawn and fun equipment.

Next on the list in Richmond District playground remodels is Fulton Playground on 27th Avenue between Cabrillo and Fulton. The project will include the repair and/or renovation of the clubhouse, the two children’s play areas, and courts; restoration of existing roads and pathways; upgrades to the infrastructure including lighting, modifications to the site to remove barriers and improve accessibility, and overall reconditioning of the park landscape.

After 18 months of planning, the project is entering the design phase. On Wednesday night, April 21, the Friends of Fulton Playground will host a community meeting to discuss equipment options for the park. Representatives from the Department of Public Works and San Francisco Recreation & Parks Department will also be there to hear from residents.

The meeting will be held at the Fulton Playground Clubhouse from 6:30 – 8pm.

Come to the meeting to share your ideas for new play structures, toys and more. If you’re passionate about rock walls or think that rope towers are where it’s at, the design team would love to hear your ideas.

Even if you can’t attend the meeting, join the Friends of Fulton Playground Yahoo! group and submit your feedback there.

A lot of my friends who are parents love to visit different parks in the neighborhood with their kids. So it would be great to have different structures than what was put in at Lincoln Playground.

Construction, which is funded by the 2008 Clean & Safe Neighborhood Parks Bond, is scheduled for completion by May 2012. Play on!

  1. I hope they keep a sandbox. they keep eliminating sand boxes out of the renovated playgrounds. I’m sure because it’s cheaper to not have them and have to keep them clean. but the kids love to play in sand
