As you may remember, last December a 9th Avenue resident was the victim of a violent assault after pulling into his garage. As a RichmondSFBlog reader, you probably have read the police blotter from time to time, silently hoping that the crimes you read about will never happen to you.
One way to help prevent crime is through neighborhood watch groups and preparedness. On Wednesday night, April 21, the Friends of Mountain Lake Park and the Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Services (MONS) are hosting a meeting to discuss community policing efforts that can help make the neighborhood safer for everyone.
Captain Correia from the SFPD Richmond District Station (take a tour), along with Irina Chatsova, SFSAFE’s Public Safety Coordinator, and Lt. Erica Arteseros, from the Neighborhood Emergency Response Team (NERT) will have a discussion with the community regarding crime prevention strategies and neighborhood emergency preparedness.
Whether you’re interested in personal safety or want to learn more about how to organize your own neighborhood watch group, come to the meeting which will be held at St. James Episcopal Church, 4620 California Street from 6:30pm-8:30pm.
