Police Blotter – November 5, 2010

During the past week in the District there were 23 traffic accidents 2 involving injuries. There were 2 citations issued for driving without a license or driving on a suspended license. There were 3 arrests for driving under the influence.

NOTEWORTHY ARRESTS
On 10/30/10 at 5:56pm officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for expired registration. The officers
determined that the driver had a suspended license and was on felony probation for auto burglary. When the officers conducted a probation search they found a broken piece of spark plug attached to a shoelace in the suspect’s pocket. The officers knew that broken spark plugs are a common tool used by auto burglars to smash out the windows of vehicles. The 43 year old male was charged with driving on a suspended license, possession of burglar tools and a probation violation.

NOTEWORTHY INCIDENTS
On 10/28/10 between 8:05am and 5:30pm on the 500 block of Arguello a suspect entered into an apartment and took a laptop, camera, watches and cash. There were no signs of forced entry.

On 10/31/10 at 1:20am officers were called to the 800 block of 34th Avenue on a report of a physical fight. Officers arrived and located 4 victims with varying degrees of injuries. The victims told the officers that they were suddenly attacked by a group of males and they had no idea why. The victims were uncooperative with the officers and would not provide additional information.

On 11/02/10 between 11:00am and 1:00pm on the 200 block of 3rd Avenue a suspect gained entry into an
apartment by prying open the front door. The suspect took two laptops, a game system and a watch.

On 11/04/10 at 7:10pm a victim was on a 38 Geary MUNI line at Geary & Baker. As the bus came to a stop a suspect grabbed the victim’s I-pad from her hands and ran off the bus, fleeing north on Baker Street. The suspect was described as a male, 17-22 years of age wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and baggy jeans.
