New pet store open at Arguello & Geary; 10% off until end of year

Thanks to a reader tip, I stopped in to check on Pet’s Corner, a new store located at 3701 Geary on the corner of Arguello. They opened up in late October.

Owners Jonathan and Angie were very friendly but I was immediately drawn to the real star of the shop – Murphy, their 7 month old Bernese Mountain dog. He greeted us with a shake and howled occasionally when we weren’t paying him enough attention.

The store is very nice inside with organized sections for dog and cat toys, food, outfits and furniture. This is the first retail venture for the couple, though Jonathan says he has always been a huge animal lover.

When he was growing up in San Francisco, the father of one of Jonathan’s best friends lived out at the zoo (who knew they had a residence on site there?). So that’s where you would often find Jonathan after school. He spent the last ten years working in the tech industry but says no one was surprised when they heard he opened a pet store.

I found Pet Corner’s prices to be on par with other pet stores in the neighborhood, and the store was large but not overwhelming. They had a good cross selection of food brands for both dogs and cats. I also had fun checking out the winter coat selection for small dogs. Murphy approved of the houndstooth coat.
