Next Monday at 7pm, Green Apple Books will host National Book Award winner Jaimy Gordon, author of “Lord of Misrule”, a tale about horse racing in West Virginia.
Gordon’s rise to literary fame didn’t come easy. She’s been writing and publishing since 1973, and she was relatively unknown when she was nominated for the National Book Award.
The New York Times said this about Gordon when she accepted award in November, 2010: “Gordon’s was a classic underdog tale, about a little-known writer with a little-seen book who overcame long odds to capture the prize and, at least for one night, revel in the glory (or swoon out of disbelief).”
Gordon will be at Green Apple Books (506 Clement Street) at 7pm on Monday, January 24 for a reading, signing, and meet-and-greet.
