Next Saturday, the Richmond District branch of the SF Public Library will host a youth chess tournament, open to ages 6 to 17. There is no entry fee and there are two sections in the tournament – beginner and open.
If you have a budding chess master who wants to participate, ask a Librarian at the branch to register or call 355-5600.
You can also contact Tournament Director Vincent Ng at ngvincep@yahoo.com with the Subject Line: RICHMOND CHESS TOURNAMENT. Be sure to include participating youth’s full name, age, school, and the name of a parent and phone number.
The tournament runs from 1pm until 5pm on Saturday, March 12 at the Richmond District Library, 351 9th Avenue.
I think the finalists should get to face off across this giant chess set in a Richmond District backyard.
