Perhaps the rogue captain of the Dancing Wolf was searching for the ruins of the old King Philip ship that have been surfacing on Ocean Beach lately. Or maybe he just wanted to join it.
Early this morning, at about 5:46am, some visitors to Ocean Beach noticed a 38 foot motor yacht that had run aground on Ocean Beach near Fulton Street. Manning (?) the controls was a guy who apparently, took his birthday bender a little too far. Ocean Beach Bulletin reports:
When National Park Service police inspected the boat, they found one person aboard: an apparently intoxicated man whose 35th birthday was Thursday, April 14, the day the boat’s owner reported it stolen. Park police checked the man’s record and discovered he had an outstanding felony warrant for his arrest in another jurisdiction, so they took him into custody and took him to the Presidio until they could transfer him.
RichmondSFBlog reader Gabriel passed by the Dancing Wolf around 8am and said “the windshield wipers were still going”.
Hop over to the Ocean Beach Bulletin for more photos and the details on how they plan to remove the craft, which was too damaged to just float back into the ocean.
Happy birthday, dude.

Maybe he was having trouble getting a cab.
It’s funny because it’s true. At least “way out here” in the Richmond…
Best story of the weekend!
That’s a $300K boat.
