I found this over at Stokereport.com – it’s the official poster for the Rip Curl Pro Search professional surfing competition that will take place at Ocean Beach from November 1-11, 2011.
A little more about the competition from the Association of Surf Professionals press release:
Now in its seventh year as an ASP World Title event, the Rip Curl Pro Search will see the world’s best surfers pitted against the diverse conditions offered by Ocean Beach, San Francisco…
The mystique of the Rip Curl Pro Search, the only ASP “floating license” on tour which allows Rip Curl to change locations year-to-year, has only continued to strengthen with each successful season. After Mick Fanning claimed the inaugural Rip Curl Pro Search title at Reunion Island in 2005, the event has gone on to make history in Mexico, Chile, Indonesia, Portugal, and most recently Puerto Rico.
“The legacy of the Rip Curl Pro Search event and the dynamic it brings to the ASP World Title season excites the surfers, staff and public every year,” Brodie Carr, ASP International CEO, said. “The event has a history of providing challenging and epic surf year in and year out and the spirit of the Search is lost upon no one. We’re thrilled to be bringing the world’s best surfers to San Francisco in 2011.”
And don’t worry, if you’re too busy to make it out to Ocean Beach, or more likely it’s too cold and windy to stand and watch surfing, you’ll be able to watch a live webcast of the event for the comfort of your own home at http://www.live.ripcurl.com.

It’s no Mavericks (then again, Mavericks isn’t really Mavericks any more), but I’m really excited for this!
