CAPTAIN RICHARD CORRIEA’S MESSAGE
When I became commanding officer of Richmond Station in December of 2008 I could not have been more delighted. I expected to complete my police career here serving in the communities that my family has called home for four generations. I care deeply about our district and the officers that protect us, and it has been my great honor to work amongst them.
On May 16, 2011 I was notified by Chief of Police Greg Suhr that he was promoting me to the rank of Commander. I have been reassigned to the Operations Bureau where I will run the Metro Division of the Department’s patrol force. I will remain active in our District as a resident, and will continue to advocate for the Richmond and participate in community endeavors.
Chief Suhr has not announced who will be the next commanding officer of Richmond Station yet. I will see that you are notified as soon as he makes his announcement.
During the past week in the District there were 15 traffic accidents 5 involving injuries. There were 4 citations issued for driving without a license or driving on a suspended license. There was 1 arrest for driving under the influence.
NOTEWORTHY ARRESTS
On 05/06/11 at 7:23am an officer observed a male walking in the middle of the street on JFK Drive near 8th Avenue. The officer saw that cars had maneuver to go around the male, who appeared agitated and was talking to himself. The officer stopped to speak to him and asked him several times to move to the curb. The suspect was showing signs of being under the influence of narcotics and refused to follow the officer’s directions. The suspect finally moved over to the sidewalk and, when asked for his identification, he provided a false name. As the officer attempted to pat search the suspect for weapons, the suspect started striking the officers hands. The officer attempted to handcuff the suspect who then began violently resisting, both the suspect and the officer fell to the ground which caused injuries to the officer. With the assistance of additional officers the suspect was taken into custody. The 37 year old male who was on parole was charged with assaulting an officer, narcotic violations and a parole violation. The officer has been on leave due to his injures since the incident.
On 05/09/11 at 1:00pm officers were called to the 3400 onhealthy lasix water pill block of California Street on a report of four females
attempting to steal clothing from stores in the area. The caller had recognized the suspects from previous theft incidents. Officers detained the four suspects, ages 17-21, and recovered stolen property that was taken from several stores. The suspects were charged with burglary, conspiracy and possession of stolen property.
On 05/14/11 at 12:30am officers were patrolling the area of the 2400 block of Sutter Street . They observed the suspect spray painting the side of a business. The officers detained a 22 year old male and recovered several more cans of spray paint and permanent markers. He was charged with vandalism
NOTEWORTHY INCIDENTS
Between 05/02 and 05/09 on the 600 block of 24th Ave , a suspect pried open the side entrance of a home. The suspect then pried open the door to the master bedroom and took cash and jewelry.
On 05/10, between 1:00am and 7:00am on the 500 block of Point Lobos, a suspect gained entry into a vehicle parked in front of a home. The victim noticed that the garage door opener was missing from the car. She then checked the garage and saw that the suspect had entered and taken tools.
On 05/11 between 9pm and 10pm on the 2700 block of Clay, a suspect entered an apartment and took two laptops and an e-reader. There were no signs of forced entry.
Between 05/12, 3:30pm and 05/15, 5:00am on the 2900 block of Cabrillo, a suspect removed a catalytic converter from a Toyota 4-runner.
Between 05/12, 7pm and 05/13, 8am on the 2300 block of Divisadero, a suspect entered an unsecure garage and broke into a vehicle parked within. The suspect took sunglasses and cash.
Between 05/13, 7pm and 05/15, 10am on the 500 block of Arguello, a suspect entered a garage and took a bicycle. There were no signs of forced entry.
Between 05/14, 9pm and 05/15, 8am on the 500 block of 5th Ave , a suspect entered a garage and broke into a car parked inside. The suspect took a GPS and cosmetics. The garage is open from the back.
On 05/15, between 9pm and 11pm on the 2600 block of McAllister, a suspect took three loads of laundry from the dryers, while the victim had stepped away.
On 05/16, between 12:11am and 12:16am on the 2900 block of Sacramento , a suspect forced open the front lobby door of an apartment building. The suspect then pried open the coin boxes on the washing machines in the garage. The suspect took coins.
Thank you for posting the blotter, it reminds me to keep from becoming a victim of these criminals.
Looks like people need to beef up their security. Garage door locks. Apt door locks. Lobby door locks. (I know from personal experience how hard it is to get a landlord to beef up their front-door/lobby-door security. In fact, it’s a lost cause.) Locks are not that expensive.
