E-waste recycling at Ocean Beach this Saturday

Time to gather up all those old electronics…

This Saturday, December 17, from 9am until 2pm, sfcleancity.com will host a free electronic recycling drop-off at Ocean Beach (event flyer). Drop off free of charge any of the following items:

– TVs and monitors
– Computers and laptops
– Scanners and printers
– Cell phones
– Fax machines
– Ethernet cables
– Telephones and telephone systems
– VCRs, DVD players
– All networking equipment (e.g. routers)

Note that no stereo speakers, appliances or microwaves will be accepted.

Drop off your e-waste between 9am and 2pm at the Ocean Beach parking lot across from the Beach Chalet restaurant near Fulton. You must have a valid California driver’s license or ID card.

  1. I wonder how many people destroy their hard drive data before recycling.

  2. weird that they have this event this late, because theres been e-waste pickup on my block twice in the last two weeks.

  3. Last I heard, the e-waste pickups are not legal. However, whichever method you choose, do ensure that you remove or truly erase any harddrives or other storage devices.

  4. I dropped off a TV at the Salvation Army on 4th Ave./Geary, the guy at the drop told me that you can recycle your electronic waste there. They’ll take it in any condition.

  5. Yeah, destroying your hard drive is a good idea since you just never know where your old computer will end up.

    There’s a place downtown that’ll crush ’em for about $30 or so.
