Reader Rachel sent us this funny video of two Dads rapping about their “Daddy Skills” and pre-parenting lives (“It feels like just last year we were running around playing beach football and drinking beers”).
Some of the scenes are shot in various locations in the Richmond District like Golden Gate Park, Velo Rouge Cafe, Clement St…
But mostly I posted it because it’s funny and well done. I definitely know some Dads with young kids who will relate to every line – especially the ones with little daughters. 🙂

Generally I roll my eyes at men who act all surprised that they’re good dads. (Please, changing a diaper isn’t any grosser than the things men do in private). Most of the dads I know were great dads from day 1 and didn’t act all impressed with themselves about it.
But I can’t help liking this song.
“I cut the grapes AND the blueberries…. Damn, that’s gangsta….”
“Eggs? NO! Cereal? NO! I got pancakes. NO! Oatmeal? Yeah.”
The same dude also wrote Whole Foods Parking Lot.

This is actually the same guy who did the “Whole Foods Parking Lot” (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2UFc1pr2yUU&feature=youtube_gdata_player) and my personal favorite, “Yoga Girl” (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L-8IPDR4Khc&feature=youtube_gdata_player)
This was a very fun, cute video – If you’re interested, DJ Dave (a Berkeley native now living in SF) is featured in today’s Berkeleyside column: http://www.berkeleyside.com/2012/08/21/bhs-grad-has-daddy-skills-in-new-dj-dave-video/
Am I the only one who got a little something in my eye when they brought out their own dads at the end? Just me?
ADORABLE! and LIFE-AFFIRMING!! DJ Dave and his “crew” take social commentary/observations on hipsters to a new level. I love all of their videos — they are creative, original and entertaining as well
as personal attempts at story telling. These vignettes help to channel and relieve the angst, frustration (resentment?!) and ambivalence we feel about so many things/events/people we can’t control in these modern times. How wonderful to make fun of “it all” and have a good time doing it. You gotta see

Very creative! I am usually not fan of hip-hop, rap, etc., but I suppose that’s because most of the exposure one gets to this stuff is from loud radios emanating from cars, boom-boxes, etc. Most of the commercial stuff has a great beat, but is populated by people you don’t want your kids to emulate. On the other hand, this piece is creative, and completely “in tune” with the experience of most folks. I went to see “Yoga Girl”…refreshing!
Delightful and I will look up the other rap videos.
