Police Blotter – October 26, 2012

CAPTAIN SHARON FERRIGNO’S MESSAGE
Hummmmmm Baby! What an exciting time for San Francisco and our World Class San Francisco Giants. As you may have guessed the World Series is keeping everyone very busy for a wonderful and happy event. The Officer’s at Richmond Station are rooting for our hometown heroes and hoping the Giants can pull off a big win! Expect to see additional patrols in our business corridor during the series.

I am pleased to announce that the San Francisco Police Department is launching the Auxiliary Law Enforcement Response Team (ALERT) to recruit, train, credential and uniform volunteers to assist law enforcement in the event of a disaster. An informational meeting will be held at the San Francisco Police Academy, located at 350 Amber Drive, Room 100, on Thursday, November 15th, at 7pm. Interested members of the public at least 16 years of age or older are encouraged to attend. More information

Our next Community meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at 6pm. It will be in the Community Room, here at Richmond Station, 461 6th Ave. (NOTE TIME CHANGE)

NOTEWORTHY ARRESTS
On 10/22/12 at 2:50pm, officers responded to the area of Geary and Masonic on a report of a male that was screaming and yelling, running in and out of traffic and banging on cars stopped at the traffic light. While officers were en route, the male swore at and then struck a woman waiting at the bus stop. The caller and female victim followed the suspect and updated dispatch to the suspect’s location. Officers detained the male at Pierce and Sutter. As the officers placed the suspect in the back of the patrol car he told them “Come on, be gangsta and take these cuffs of.” The 46 year old male was charged with assault and being under the influence.

On 10/26/12 at 4:24am, officers were called to the 900 block of Clement St on a report of a male subject refusing to leave. When the arrived, the male was in front and handed the officers a piece of paper. When asked what the paper was for the suspect replied, “So you can run my name.” Upon running his name in the computer, it showed that he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest for weapon possession. The 24 yr old was booked on the warrant.

NOTEWORTHY INCIDENTS
On 10/19/12 between 9:20am and 7pm on the 700 block of 4th Ave , a suspect gained entry into a home by prying open the front door. The suspect took an iPad and a laptop.

Between 10/20/12, 9pm and 10/22/12, 11:20pm on the 1900 block of Clement, a suspect gained entry into a garage and took a bike. When the victim returned home, the found the back door to the garage open, but no signs of forced entry.

On 10/23/12, between 6:40pm and 6:50pm, the victim was on a 31 Balboa MUNI, outbound. As the bus neared 6th Ave, the suspect was suddenly beside her and as the bus stopped, the suspect grabbed her wallet and cash from her back pack. He fled the bus north on 6th Ave towards Anza St. He was described as a Hispanic or Asian male, 40-50 years, with a beard, wearing a dark jacket and jeans.

On 10/23/12 between 10:30am and 12:30pm on the 7100 block of Geary, a suspect took 3 bikes from an apartment building garage. There were no signs of forced entry.

On 10/25/12, residence of a home on the 3300 block of Clay St had their alarm go off. A check of the premise showed nothing suspicious. When one of the residents went to the garage in the morning, they discovered a bike and garage remote had been taken. A side door may have been left unlocked.

On 10/24/12, at 12:08pm, the victim was walking east on Anza towards 20th Ave talking on her cell phone. As she finished her call, the first suspect ran from behind her and grabbed her cell phone from her hand and ran back towards 21st Ave where suspect #2 was waiting and passed the phone to her. The second suspect dropped the phone and as the victim went to pick it up, she was pushed into a parked vehicle. Suspect #2 picked up the phone again and both ran north on 21st towards Geary Bl. The victim continued to chase them and as the suspects got to 21st and Geary, the second suspect passed the phone back to the first as she was tired and out of breath. The first suspect ran into a restaurant on the 5700 block of Geary, with the victim still in pursuit. As the victim entered the restaurant, the suspect came out of the restroom and handed the victim her phone back and left. The victim tried to use her phone to call 911 and discovered that the suspect had taken the battery to her phone. The first suspect was described as a black female, 12-14 years wearing a black jacket. The second suspect was a Hispanic female, 12-14 years, brown hair with blond tips, wearing a black jacket. The victim was not injured.
