Blog reader David W. sent in this photo of a water main break at the intersection of Anza and 27th Avenue on Tuesday afternoon. He said it looked like a bubbling hot tub in the middle of the intersection.
Water main breaks have been popping up in the city lately. There was one at 15th and Wawona last week that damaged 23 homes and left 3 uninhabitable, and another on Russian Hill on February 20 that disrupted cable car service.

No water coming out of taps at California and 8th! Related?
“bubbling hot tub” or a small geyser
Seems like there is another emergency repair being done at 38th ave and Cabrillo. They are actually drilling at midnight! It’s quite loud and vibrative. Seems like a waste since they just repaved the street.
Seems like the water pressure is down around 21st and Geary. Started when they turned off the water for repairs a couple of months ago. Anyone else notice?
Your water pressure may appear to be less because once the water is turned off and then back on again it causes lots of sediment in the pipes to be disturbed and clog up your faucet at the aerator.
Simply unscrew your aerator and run water through it the opposite way or blow it out!
Looks like they’re still at it over here on the corner of 27th and Anza. Bah — more house shaking.
