CAPTAIN SHARON FERRIGNO’S MESSAGE
Last night, Officer Lai made a fantastic arrest culminating in the seizure of a gun and an arrest of three. Team work is at the core of our philosophy here at Richmond Station. Officer Lai’s arrest is an example of what is accomplished when we work together.
We are preparing for National Night Out which is held this year on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at Richmond Station. In the spirit of teamwork, we cannot do our jobs alone; we need you, the community to be our partners in keeping the Richmond District Safe. Please join us for National Night Out at Richmond Station from 5pm to 8pm. If you have not attended before please make an effort to stop by and we encourage you to bring your families, children and seniors. It’s a great opportunity to get to know our officers, neighbors and other first responders.
Our next Community meeting will be held on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at 6pm. It will be in the Community Room, here at Richmond Station, 461 6th Ave.
NOTEWORTHY ARRESTS
On 07/13/13 at 1:30am, a single vehicle accident occurred at Geary and Stanyan Sts. The vehicle traveling north on Stanyan continued straight, jumped the curb and hit a parking meter, street sign and newspaper stand. The officer instructed the driver to roll the window back down and when he did the officer could smell marijuana from inside. The driver was on parole as was one of the passengers. The officers had all three occupants exit the vehicle to conduct a parole search and located a fully loaded handgun in the trunk. On 07/12/13 she called him on his cell phone to check in and he told her that he had been at work and was not in Mexico.

more dumb people on buses on cell phones . . . absolutely unaware.
Thanks for that dumb comment.
SHUT UP BOB YOU COMMENT EVERY SINGLE WEEK. KARMA IS GONNA GET YOU. WATCH OUT.
Hey T. Powell & penelope – Please mellow out. There’s no reason to be rude. Thank you,
Sarah B.
totally agree with bob. its a crime of opportunity. it amazes me how carefree some people are. just put the stupid thing in your pocket; facebook can wait.
I don’t feel that people should be labeled unfairly as “dumb” for wanting to use their personal devices. People should be able to use them without worrying about someone taking then from them. With that said though we do live a world where this kind of thing takes place, so people who do use their smartphones or other devices should be more aware of their surroundings and protect their personal belongings. To label these people as “dumb” isn’t fair. We have all done dumb things.
So… from reading 2+ years of police blotters I have learned that: my house/garage will get burglarized… it’s just a matter of time. Same goes for getting mugged while walking and talking on my cell phone. And speaking of cell phones, I am extremely stupid if I use my cell phone on the bus, particularly if I am near a door and/or someone wearing a hoodie. (This holds especially true on the 38-Geary.) I love the neighborhood, but man, between the crime, the increase in trash/illegal dumping and the wave of park kids wandering down from Haight/Stanyan to 6-7-8th avenues I am wondering if Marin is the smarter choice.
Ok, maybe what I should have said was that I disagree with the original comment (which was probably just meant to instigate an argument) and its rude derogation of relatively innocent people who ideally should not have to worry about some thieving coward too craven to make an honest living for himself and too antisocial to care for the sakes other people.
I would like my son and all children to inherit a world where people do not live in so much fear of one another.
And when a crime is perpetrated, the correct target is the criminal.
