Police Blotter – December 23, 2013

CAPTAIN SHARON FERRIGNO’S MESSAGE
The men and women of Richmond Police Station would like to extend our wish for a safe, happy and healthy holiday season for you and yours. Richmond Station Investigation team arrested serial car thieves also in possession of a significant amount of methamphetamine. Officers and investigators have been working this case for several weeks. The search warrant was served in a nearby police district and the culmination was the arrest of 2 subjects, in possession of stolen property, a stolen car and methamphetamine. Richmond Station officers have also recovered seven stolen cars in the past week. Please remember to alert your neighbors if you are going out of town and don’t leave your gifts or packages in your car. Richmond Station Officers will be placing stickers on local parking meters to remind everyone not to leave valuables in your car.

We will not be having a community meeting in December. We will see you again after the New Year.

NOTEWORTHY ARRESTS
On 12/17/2013 at 4:06 pm Richmond Station Plain Clothes Unit responded to an address on the 500th block of 33rd Ave to conduct a probation search. While conducting the search officers recovered prohibited weapons and narcotics. The officers determined that the narcotics were packaged in a manner consistent with narcotic sale. The suspect was arrested for numerous violations.

On 12/19/2013 at 4:40PM Richmond Station Plain Clothes Unit responded to the 400 block of 31st to conduct a routine investigation. The subject of the investigation was not at home but as officers were leaving they contacted an individual who was known from previous contacts. The officers knew that the individual was on active felony probation and so he was detained. While conducting a probation search officers discovered a quantity of rock cocaine and drug paraphernalia. In a follow-up during this initial incident officers entered an apartment of another individual. Upon entry they discovered a quantity of methamphetamine, scales, pipes and other narcotic related items. As a result of this investigation three persons were arrested for multiple narcotics violations.

On 12/14/2013, at 11:13 pm, officers located a stolen vehicle on Geary and Parker Ave. which was occupied by two subjects. Officers contacted the occupants and on further investigation discovered a quantity of methamphetamine. Both occupants of the vehicle were booked on narcotics and vehicle code violations.

NOTEWORTHY INCIDENTS
On 12/19/2013 at 8:39pm Richmond station officer responded to Safeway on La Playa regarding a shoplifting suspect who assaulted two security guards. The officers contacted both victims who had suffered minor injuries but refused medical attention at the scene. The responding officers conducted an immediate search of the area with negative results. The suspects in this incident fled in the direction of Golden Gate Park. The suspects involved in this incident are still outstanding and the investigation continues.

On 12/18/2013, at 10:04 pm officers responded to the 700 block of 29th Ave. regarding a burglary. Multiple small items were taken from an unlocked vehicle in the garage. The investigation continues…

On 12/15/2013, at 12:27 am, officers responded to lake and 20th Ave. regarding a hot prowl burglary. The occupants of the building called stating that they heard someone in the downstairs of the building. When the officers arrived at the scene they conducted a search of the area in an attempt to locate the suspects. Multiple electronic items were stolen from the house and the investigation continues…

On 12/16/2013, at 7:49 am, officers responded to the 400 block of 42nd Ave. regarding a report of a burglary. One of the residents of the build had gone for a morning run and when they got back home discovered that someone had made entry to the garage area and removed a bicycle. The resident believes they may have left the door to the garage unlocked. The investigation continues…

On 12/14/2013, at 6:30 pm, officers responded to the 3200 block of Geary Blvd regarding a robbery from the store. The suspect in this incident entered the store and told the clerk he was “Christmas Shopping.” The suspect took a backpack as he was walking around the store and started loading it with items. When the suspect started to leave the building without paying, the clerk was grabbed by the arm and shoved backwards causing minor injuries. Medical assistance was declined at the scene. Officers conducted a search of the area but the suspect had fled prior to their arrival. The investigation continues…

  1. Has anyone else heard about the rash of car break-ins on Fulton St. near 25th Ave? One of the victims is a friend…and she’s not happy. Maybe a police car could cruise by this area a few times a night after dark.

  2. Fulton is a terrible place to park. I wouldn’t park my car there in broad daylight.
