Seen around the ‘hood: Mescolanza redux, sci-fi laundromat

Looks like the next iteration of Mescolanza is coming along nicely at Geary and 2nd Avenue. As you may recall, they lost their lease on Clement near 23rd after 26 years. We called their new phone number and the voicemail says they plan to open “soon”. Keep an eye on their website for updates.

Kudos to the new management of a laundromat on California near 7th Avenue (well technically they’re on Cornwall). Their clever name made us laugh and they did a nice upgrade on the inside – amazing what a little cleaning and fresh paint can do. If you spot any aliens or UFO’s while washing your duds there, let us know. Oddly there’s a little volcano in one corner…

  1. This is so great. I wish it had been closer to its old location, but I’m glad Mescolanza is coming back.

  2. Rad! I love Mescolanza and this will widen the range of good eats in the inner!

  3. Mescolanza was great. It’s replacement was like an Olive garden…Glad they are coming back to life!

  4. @Hazbeen: It’s replacement (I’ve been there twice) is exactly the same, same quality as Mescolanza. Worth going for sure!

  5. awesome. the neighborhood needs a wider variety than currently here.

  6. The new place that replaced Mescolanza (Luna Rossa) has the same servers and same menu basically. But the food doesn’t taste the same. Not as good in my opinion. If the redux Mescolanza tastes better I will be pissed because I lived only a block from the original one.

  7. Based on the article in Feb, The original owners of Mescolanza bought back the lease. This is why you see much of the same staff and the menu being pretty much the same. Prior to this change over, I thought my last meal at Mescolanza was not that good (this was about a year ago). I love to see both of them too well, but will Luna Rossa is much closer to my house.

  8. To me, Luna Rossa was like identical to Mescolanza in menu and quality (and staff).

  9. Glad that discount sushi restaurant is finally gone with their tacky menus all over the front windows. That short stretch of Geary is starting to look shishi, mirroring Clement. Hope this means the renaissance of the Inner Richmond is continuing unabated. I’ve noticed the “spas” are starting to close up shop, especially after the face slapping joint closed. Perhaps the word is out that the Richmond Dist isn’t good for that kind of business.
