SFPD Richmond District Police Station
Weekly Update 09-04-2015
From Captain Simon Silverman

Here are some of the incidents that occurred in the Richmond Police District this week:

ARREST: ATTEMPTED ROBBERY
08/28/2015 6:25 AM
Sutter & Lyon
The victim was standing on the street waiting for a ride to arrive when a car drove up and the main suspect got out and approached him. He could hear the other suspects in the car exhorting the main suspect to “Get it!” and he realized that he was about to be robbed. The victim ran off with the suspect in pursuit. He managed to outpace the suspect who got back into the car and drove away. The suspects were later arrested in the Mission District.

ARREST: STOLEN MOTORCYCLE / STOLEN PROPERTY / POSSESSION OF METHAMPHETAMINE
08/28/2015 5:15 PM
JFK & Conservatory Drive in Golden Gate Park
Officers on patrol saw a person riding a motorcycle with no license plate. The motorcyclist stopped next to a parked van and was talking to a man in the van. The motorcyclist told officers that she had brought the motorcycle to Golden Gate Park in the van so that she could learn to ride. A check of the vehicle ID number showed that the motorcycle was stolen. The person in the van gave a fake name to the officers. Unfortunately for him, the person whose name he used was subject to warrantless search. A search of the van yielded stolen property and methamphetamine. At this point, the suspect gave his correct name, but he was also subject to warrantless search.

08/29/2015 6:00 PM
Geary & Presidio
The victim was standing at the bus stop and looking at his phone when the suspects approached. One suspect snatched the victim’s phone and the other punched the victim in the face knocking him to the ground.
Captain’s Note: These suspects were arrested following another robbery on 08/30/2015 (see below).

ARREST: THEFT FROM A VEHICLE / RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY
08/29/2015 8:26 PM
Sea Cliff & El Camino Del Mar
The victim looked out of his window and saw three suspects in front of his house near his car. In the short time that it took him to go down and see what was going on the suspects had stolen the garage remote from his car, opened the garage and ridden off with three bicycles. He got into his car and drove around. When he saw a suspect riding one of his bikes, he yelled at the suspect who dropped the bike and ran off (but was later caught by officers). The US Park Police also responded to help and they found a second suspect riding one of the stolen bikes. The third suspect remains at large although all three bicycles were recovered.

Fulton & 3rd Ave
The suspects approached the victim who had his camera on a strap around his neck. One of them pulled on the camera strap and told the victim, “We can do this the hard way or the easy way.” This suspect then took the camera from the victim. A passing witness told the suspects to give the victim his camera back or he was going to call the police at which point the suspects ran off with the witness in pursuit. The suspects ditched the camera in a trash bin and tried to hide in a nearby restaurant, but the witness directed officers right to them and they were arrested.
