Around 2:45pm this afternoon, the SFFD Surf Rescue team assisted a distressed swimmer off the coast of China Beach.
A boat and rescue swimmers were deployed and after reaching the swimmer, loaded him on a rescue board to bring him back to shore.
Rescuers delivered the adult male back to shore by 2:54pm where he was evaluated by medics and released at the scene after choosing not to be taken to a hospital for further evaluation.
Be careful out there folks! The SFFD asked us to stress that if you are going to swim in the ocean, “do not go alone, and know your limits, and the hazards.”

This ocean is just not meant for swimming. Cold water, huge waves, rip currents, sharks, sea lions and even killer whales.
