Police Blotter – June 23, 2016 | Cyclist killed in GGP hit and run, two armed robberies

Here are some of the incidents that occurred in the Richmond Police District this week:

FATAL HIT & RUN ACCIDENT AT 30TH & JFK
On June 22, 2016, at 6:00 PM, Officers responded to 30th and JFK regarding a fatal hit and run accident. Several Richmond Station Officers arrived on scene as well as the SFPD Night Captain. Officers located an adult female bicyclist on the ground, who later succumbed to her injuries. The suspect vehicle was later located, abandoned in Golden Gate Park. The suspect in the hit and run is outstanding and the investigation is ongoing at this time. The (TCIU) Traffic Collision Investigation Unit has taken over the investigation in this case.

ARREST: ROBBERY WITH A GUN

Clay & Walnut St.
Officers responded to Clay St. and Walnut St. on the report of an armed robbery. When they arrived they interviewed three victims, who told them they were robbed by three men, one of which had a handgun. Officers broadcast descriptions of both the suspects and their vehicle, so neighboring police districts could search for the suspects. Taraval Station Officers conducted a traffic stop at 27th Ave. & Kirkham St. on a vehicle that matched the suspect vehicle’s description. The victims were taken to the scene where the suspects were detained and the victims positively identified them as the robbers. The victims’ property was located with the suspects and inside the suspect’s vehicle were two replica firearms. Through the investigation Officers determined the suspects had committed several other recent robberies throughout San Francisco. The suspects were booked into County Jail on several felony charges.

ARREST: HOT PROWL BURGLARY

6TH Ave. & Balboa St.
Officers responded to 6th Ave. & Balboa St., regarding a person stealing tools from a work site. A male suspect approached a construction worker and asked if he could use some spray paint. The worker told his co-worker that a man was asking to borrow paint. Both the men walked downstairs to find the suspect inside the garage concealing tools inside a bag and attempting to flee the scene. The workers grabbed the suspect and were able to get the tools back. Officers arrived on scene and located the male suspect who was positively identified by the construction workers. The suspect was booked into County Jail on a burglary charge.

ARREST: DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL

California St. & 11th Ave.
Officers responded to a single vehicle collision in the area of California and 11th Ave. When Officers approached the person in the driver’s seat, they could smell a strong odor of alcoholic beverage on their breath and noticed she staggered to the sidewalk after getting out of the car. The Officers conducted several field sobriety tests (FST) and ultimately placed the person under arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON

6TH Ave & Geary Blvd.
The victim was on a Muni Bus when he overheard two suspects using vulgar language and talking about women inappropriately. When the victim asked the suspects to stop because they were making the other passengers uncomfortable, the suspects stood up and confronted the victim. One suspect took a wine bottle and hit the victim over the head several times, which knocked him to the ground and caused him the lose consciousness. The suspects then exited the bus and fled in an unknown direction. The victim was transported to the hospital due to his head injuries.
Suspect #1: Asian male, 18-20 years old, 5’5’, 150 lbs and black hair.
Suspect #2: White male, 18-21 years old, 5’5’, 150 lbs and black hair.
When problems arise on a MUNI bus, please notify the bus driver of the issues, when safe to do so.

ROBBERY WITH GUN

7TH Ave. & Anza St.
A robbery victim walked into Richmond Station and told an Officer he was just robbed of his belongings on Anza St., between 7th & 8th Ave. The victim stated he was walking eastbound on Anza St., while looking down at his phone. The victim heard someone say, “Give me your phone.” When the victim looked up he saw two male suspects, one of them brandishing a handgun. The suspect handed over his phone to the first suspect and then the second suspect demanded his wallet while shoving the handgun into his chest. The victim handed over his wallet and the suspects fled southbound on 7th Ave. The victim was not injured in this incident. Officer’s searched the area for the suspects to no avail. The investigation is ongoing.
Suspect #1: Black male, 5’8’, 140 lbs last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt.
Suspect #2: Black male, 5’9’, 160 lbs and black hair.

ROBBERY WITH FORCE

Cabrillo & 12TH Ave.
An elderly victim was walking eastbound on Cabrillo St. from Funston St. A female suspect approached the victim from behind, pushed her down to the ground, and forcibly pulled her purse from her left shoulder. The victim told Officers the suspect fled westbound on Cabrillo St. The investigation is ongoing.
Suspect description: Black female, 20 yrs old, 5’2’, 100 lbs, black hair, wearing all black clothing.

BURGLARY FORCIBLE ENTRY

Clement & 3rd Ave.
A passerby heard a loud thud as he was walking on Clement Street. He saw two men run out of a restaurant, quickly jump into a silver vehicle and flee the scene. Officers arrived and searched for the suspects, but were unable to locate them. When Officers searched the restaurant and conducted their investigation they noticed pry marks on the front door and broken plates on the ground. The manager arrived and they reviewed video surveillance footage of the burglary which showed two male suspects pry open the front door, enter and rummage through the restaurant and exit minutes later.
Suspects: Two black males, both wearing dark clothing.

The Sandlot Program
The Sandlot program is about having Officers go out and interact with kids in their communities in a fun and healthy environment! All children are welcome to attend and play with the Officers.

  1. You know, there was a post a while back by the SFPD about how a specific Judge had allowed a person who had been arrested for 9 prior auto burglaries to essentially walk free.

    I wish I could find that post. But if it is the case that this person had been arrested before, and had been set free by a lenient SF Judge, then there will and should be hell to pay.

    Maybe the SFPD should go find the person set free by this Judge and ask him what he was doing yesterday afternoon?
