Last Thursday night, Kawika’s Ocean Beach Deli on La Playa hosted a meet and greet with this election year’s crop of candidates vying for the District 1 Supervisor seat.
There are 10 candidates in the race, but only 9 showed up for the event. David Lee did not attend.
Each candidate spoke briefly to introduce themselves and their campaign, which was then followed by a Q&A with the audience. Discussion points ranged from the homeless to underground monorail.
Candidates then stuck around afterwards to mix and mingle with voters. Roughly 50 people attended the event, not including the candidates.

I thought about going to this event…but…most of the people who run for the BoS are doing so as training wheels for higher office. As such, they really will not stick their necks out to try and solve some of the intractable problems facing The City. To do so would require feeling the wraith of the losers if the status quo were challenged.
Did they talk about the fact that there is $1B in deferred maintenance for public structures in San Francisco that supports 800,000 of us? Or the fact that we spend $250M a year on about 15,000 homeless people?
Of course not.
You gave us McGoldrick and Mar.
Please do better next time, The Richmond.
