There’s no shortage of construction projects going on in the Richmond District. Here’s an update on a few that have come across our desk recently:
MOUNTAIN LAKE PARK PLAYGROUND
Several readers have inquired about the playground and its re-opening date. The $3.15 million renovation began in Fall 2015 and is still underway. When we contacted SF Rec & Park project manager Levi Conover (the fourth on the project so far) and asked when the playground would reopen, he replied with “late Fall”. So far there’s a lot of concrete work that has been done, and a few structural pieces.
In an August 25 blog post on the project website, Conover wrote: “We recently completed the foundation work for the scrambling wall next to the concrete slide, and are finishing up drainage work beneath the children’s play area. We anticipate completion of the park late this fall.”
Late fall to us is October 31, 2016. So we’ll see how this goes…
ALEXANDRIA THEATER APARTMENTS
Cub reporter David H. sent us this photo of the ongoing excavation at the site on 18th Avenue between Clement and Geary, behind the Alexandria Theater structure (technically 369 18th Avenue). Work started in June for the new four-story development, dubbed the “Alexandria Residences”. It will consist of two levels of underground parking with 122 spaces, approximately 4,800 square feet of retail spaces on the ground floor, and 43 dwelling units on the upper floors, including one, two and three-bedroom units. There will be 5 below market rate units in the building.
25TH AVENUE
The SF Department of Public Works tweeted yesterday about repair work taking place on 25th Avenue between Clement and Geary. “Began repair work today on 25th Avenue (Clement to Geary). The complete roadway will be paved in about two months.” So expect traffic delays if you’re traveling along 25th Avenue.
Shaw has been absolutely awful between Clement and Geary.
First couple of night, the slabs of metal were carelessly placed over the trenches they dug, creating an earthquake-like rumbling/warzone sound every time the 29 came up and down all evening into the morning.
Added on a “30” label to the end date of 9/15 without a 72 hour notice.
They constantly work past the posted 5:30 end date, clunking around into the early evening as I’m trying to relax after a long day’s work.
The streets are left a mess after they’re done for the day.
After it’s “cleaned up” for the night, it feels like your’e off roading/dune buggying if you drive up or down this part of the avenue.
Oh, and some driveways have been damaged.
Can’t wait for them to be gone – good luck to those between Geary and Anza…
Sorry to hear that Mike. You should send your feedback to DPW as well: 415-554-6920 or dpw@sfdpw.org
Regarding Mountain Lake playground:
For those that are not familiar with “government speak” when a date is given as “late fall” it is likely to actually mean the day before winter, in this case December 20.
actually, late fall usually means early spring and the improvements will still not be to spec
