2016 Halloween Events in the Richmond District

Here are some events going on THIS week in the neighborhood, as well as on Halloween night. We hope it’s spook-tastic night for everyone!

Halloween Party at the YMCA
Friday, October 28 from 5:30pm to 7:30pm
Stop by for the “Down The Rabbit Hole Party” at the Richmond District YMCA featuring ?a ?wonderland with mystery and fun behind every corner. Activities for toddlers through middle school including a bounce house, s’mores and snacks, art activities, fun games, pumpkin decorating and carving, a photo booth and more. The entrance fee is $10 per child 2yrs+, pumpkin included. Kids under 2 and chaperones are free.

BalbooA Festival
Saturday, October 29 at 11 AM – 4 PM
Join neighbors and local merchants as we trick or treat down Balboa Street between 35th and 39th Avenue! All are welcome to the St. Thomas the Apostle school yard to enjoy festivities including a petting zoo (11am-1pm), games, bouncy things, food and more. The newly revamped Eat Americana cafe (3532 Balboa near 37th Ave) will offer sidewalk root beer floats and balloons for kids in costume. Find out more on Facebook

Halloween Festival with Shared Schoolyard Project
Saturday, October 29th from 11am to 1pm.
Celebrate Halloween at Roosevelt Middle School with the Shared Schoolyard Project. This exciting Halloween Festival and kick-off event marks the grand re-opening of the schoolyard for the public to use on weekends! The event will include free lunch for the whole neighborhood, a wide variety of Halloween games and activities for all ages, a ribbon cutting ceremony, and a costume contest, so be sure to dress up! Kid’s Costume Parade on Clement Street
Sunday, October 30 at 11:30am
Meet at the Farmer’s Market at 3rd Avenue for a kid’s musical act with a sing-a-long, followed by a parade through the market down to Toy Boat where costumed kids will receive a free scoop of ice cream. Sponsored by the Clement Street Merchants Association.

Clement Street Trick or Treat
Monday, October 31 from 2pm to 6pm
Watch for spooky stencils on the sidewalk outside participating businesses between Arguello and 8th Avenue. When you see one, pop in to the shop for a special Halloween treat. Sponsored by the Clement Street Merchants Association.

Halloween Spooky Photo Spot
It’s the second annual Halloween Photo Spot at Angelina’s Cafe at the corner of California and 22nd Avenue. Stop by to get a free photo in front of a spooky, Halloween backdrop plus a treat. Check out photos from last year.

Note that there is not a Haunted House at Appel & Dietrich Market this year. Last year was the final one!

  1. Not that I haven’t already exposed my geezerhood on this blog, but nice to see the Y on 18th still going strong; I remember playing at teen club dances there as a scruffy, aspiring Washington high musician in the 60’s !
