This is the 35th year for the Bouquets to Art exhibition at the de Young Museum in Golden Gate Park. Each year, floral designers are matched with pieces of art in the museum’s permanent collection. They then create their own floral accompaniments for the pieces, which are displayed for only one week throughout the museum’s galleries.
This year you can’t help but stare at the awesome centerpiece in the Wilsey Court entitled “Eclipse” by designers Natasha Lisitsa and Daniel Schultz. The giant orb, suspended from the ceiling as it rotates, is covered in flowers and some kind of hair/fur. According to their Instagram, it’s 14 feet in diameter, contains 10,000 flowers, and weighs 1200 pounds.
Below are some images we captured at this year’s show, which runs through Sunday, June 9. In addition to seeing beautiful floral designs, the show is a great chance to browse the museum’s permanent collection which spans centuries and continents.
On Saturday, the museum will host a special floral-themed Family Art Making from 11 am–4 pm in the Piazzoni Murals Room. And for those of you who feel like you’re constantly dodging photographers every year at the exhibition, there will be a photo-free period on Friday, June 7 from 9:30 am until 12noon.

Really nice photographs! Good job capturing the beauty. I wonder why the show was so brief? I seem to remember it being longer….at least a week. What happened?
