Everyone knows the popular angst-filled refrain of “Roxxxannnnneee!” by the Police. Musician Essence Goldman has written a kid-friendly rendition called “Rocks n’ Sand”, and next Monday (President’s Day), families are invited to be a part of the music video shoot at Ocean Beach.
We are inviting YOU to a fun-filled day at the beach for Essence’s video shoot for the song “Rocks and Sand” off her new childrens’ album, ‘A Dog Named Moo!’ February 20, Presidents Day, Ocean Beach, in San Francisco, 10AM to sundown. Meet at the far right end, closest to the Cliff House!
“Rocks n’ Sand” is a parody of The Police song “Roxanne” about a day at the beach. I am counting on you all to help make this as fun and silly as possible. Bring beach toys, pets, games, umbrellas, snorkel gear, scuba gear, anything creative you can think of and of course yourselves! Irony is what we’re going for. The contrast of the darkness of the original song with the playful lightheartedness of “Rocks n’ Sand.”
The day will be filled with family and kid-friendly activities like a Sand Castle building contest, and burying your kids/ parents in the sand. We’ll have a barbeque out on the beach and end the day with a bonfire and some camp fire songs!

The posting time is from 10am to sundown. We dressed our kids up creatively and got there at 2:30pm. Surprisingly there was NO MUSIC and NO kids dancing!!! Our kids were disappointed and asked many times what happened to the music and dance???
Hi Melody – I’m really sorry to hear that there wasn’t something going on when you arrived. 🙁 I just looked at Essence Goldman’s webpage and they were definitely out there – no mention of it being cut short? https://www.facebook.com/essence.goldman?sk=wall
